- Gyeongsangbuk-do safe travel online event gets under way for three months on March 16 -
Gyeongsangbuk-do is hosting an online event called “What’s next in Gyeongsangbuk-do?” that invites travelers to check out local tourist destinations and post their experiences on their own SNS accounts over the next three months, starting on March 16.
Gyeongsangbuk-do planned this event to encourage “healthy and safe travel” with safe “untact” travel options to promote local tourist attractions and attract both domestic and foreign visitors to take advantage of the government’s decision to ease COVID-19 travel restrictions and in anticipation of the sharp rise in tourism demand in the upcoming spring season.
The first leg of the event is the “What’s next? Travel on foot! - Gyeongbuk Run Tour” program.
You can head over to a local tourist destination in Gyeongsangbuk-do and walk (run) for 3km or 30 minutes (or more) to take part in the program. Here, you have to use a dedicated smartphone app as you walk/run, then upload your experience onto your own SNS* account.
*Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Kakao Story, etc.
You can visit popular destinations like Pohang Homi Peninsula Coastal Trail, Yeongdeok Blue Road, Sobaeksan Jarak-gil, Mungyeongsaejae, etc., or serene and peaceful riverwalks across the Province.
Choose whichever destination fancies you. The Gyeongbuk Run Tour begins on March 16 and ends on May 17 (63 days). Once a month, Gyeongsangbuk-do will choose popular SNS posts to hand out generous free gifts and souvenirs, most of which can help keep you healthy, such as smartwatches and random boxes full of local specialties with health benefits.
The second part of the event is the “What’s next? Check out places to sit! - Gyeongbuk Chair Tour” program.
This is a great option if you are looking for a spot that offers some spectacular scenery, or a place no one else knows about to just sit there and space out while enjoying the calm and serene view.
As the program’s title (Chair Tour) suggests, you can bring your own foldable chair or just lay down a handkerchief or piece of newspaper to sit. Make yourself at home and spend some time to heal yourself.
Similar to the Run Tour, you need to post tucked-away tourist destinations in Gyeongsangbuk-do and post a nice selfie onto your SNS account to participate in the program.
Head out to a place that is trending on social media or a mineral spring at a mountain near you. The choice is yours. Although taking part in the program may end up bringing more people to your own secret hangout, it is always nice to share a great view with other people.
The Gyeongbuk Chair Tour begins on March 28 and ends on May 30 (63 days). Once a month, Gyeongsangbuk-do will choose popular SNS posts to hand out generous free gifts, such as “glamping” vouchers, camping chairs, and other souvenirs.
The last part of the event is the “What’s next? Travel and drink! - Gyeongbuk Tumbler Tour” program.
With coffee becoming more and more popular, an increasing number of coffee aficionados are traveling across the country to find delicious coffee and beautiful cafes.
Grab a tumbler, stop by a local cafe, drink some coffee (or tea), then post a selfie with a nice view of the cafe on social media to take part in this program. Since this event is an eco-friendly tour, refrain from using disposable products to protect the environment, and make sure to bring your own tumbler.
The Gyeongbuk Tumbler Tour begins on April 11 and ends on June 13 (63 days). At the end of the program, Gyeongsangbuk-do will choose popular SNS posts to hand out generous free gifts, such as high-end coffee machines, mocha pots, hand-drip coffee sets, and other coffee-related products. Also, all participants will get a mobile coffee voucher for taking part in the program.
Moreover, the three most popular cafes during the event will be selected and promoted as “Our Favorite Cafes.”
Kim Sang-cheol, head of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “I hope that this event will serve as an opportunity to attract more travelers to various tourist destinations and hidden tourist spots in Gyeongsangbuk-do and promote them via SNS.” He added, “We will continue to develop new tourism content capable of bringing in more tourists by utilizing the tourism resources we have in abundance, such as our rivers, mountains, and beaches, in Gyeongsangbuk-do.”
To participate in the event, post a photo of yourself traveling across Gyeongsangbuk-do along with the required hashtags (#GyeongsangbukdoTravel, #GyeongbukRun, etc.) assigned to each program on your personal SNS account, then register yourself on the event’s official website.
