Gyeongju World Expo is expected to be held in the famous tourism site of Ankor Wat - one of worlds 7 mysteries.
According to Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju Culture Expo Organization committee, an official from the committee visited Cambodia national tourism committee and discussed opening Gyeongju World Culture Expo in Ankor Wat with the deputy premier of the committee last June. Cambodia national tourism committee showed deep interests.
The discussion covered the details of the possible opening places and support plans.
Gyeongju Culture Expo Organization committee said that the publicity effects of opening the Expo in Cambodia will be great and will publicize Korea and Gyeongju all over the world.
They expect that 95% of the visitors of Cambodia Expo will be foreigners, while 90% of visitors of Gyeongju Expo were nationals.
It is said that the site for Cambodia Expo will cover 397 acre as large as the site of Gyeongju Expo and the total costs will amount to 11 million.
Accommodation problem will be solved if a five-star hotel with 1200 rooms will be built in Ankor by next year.
The biggest problem for Cambodia is how to secure the required budget given the tight national budget situation. Lee Pil-Dong, the director of Gyeongju Culture Expo Organization committee said, We can overcome the problem by receiving the supports from the multinationals. Culture Expo to be held in Ankor Wat will give a considerable synergy effects to the brand of Gyeongju World Culture Expo.
