About 106 high school students and teachers from Korea and eight other countries will take part in a science camp for joint experiment and research activities.
The International Science & Engineering Camp 2006 will be held at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) from July 26 through August 4, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) said on Monday (July 24).
The gifted students in science from the nine countries will enjoy a variety of science programs for ten days with specialized teachings from POSTECH professors.
The programs will cover six fields, including physics, chemistry, mechanical studies, computer and environment engineering.
The participants will have opportunities to experience Korean culture and visit Gyeongju, the capital of the ancient Silla Dynasty.
They are also scheduled to visit companies in industrial complexes around the country to assess South Koreas technological development and scientific achievements.
The camp is co-hosted by the Korea Science Foundation and POSTECH and sponsored by MOST, the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO Korea.
There will be 51 participants from Korea, 17 from China, nine from Thailand, eight from Japan, seven from Israel, six from Australia, four from Singapore, and two each from New Zealand and Germany.
