-Korea-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Association members visit Gumi- Spain, the far country, becomes closer with economical exchanges!
The foreign investment incentive area of Gumi and the campaign to create a fine city suitable for enterprise activities have created much interest from Spanish politicians. Sixteen members of the Korea-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Association (leader: vice-chairman Jordi Vilajoana Rovira) visited Gumi City and LG electronics on April 13.
Gumi Mayor, Nam Yoo Chin, introduced the current economic status and main policies of Gumi and welcomed the members to the 3.05 billion dollar exporting city and LG, the world-class enterprise, in his welcoming address.
He emphasized various incentives such as the status of foreign enterprise inducement in the Gumi 4th National Industrial Complex and a system of beneficial taxation to ask for Spain enterprises to invest and he also mentioned that he hopes this visit will help start economic exchanges between Gumi and cities in Spain.
The leader of the delegation, Jordi Vilajoana Rovira, vice chairman of the House of Representatives in Spain, mentioned that he would like to visit Gumi again in 1-2 years with officers from large companies.
Jordi Vilajoana Rovira announced that he was very happy to experience Koreas surprising economical power and benchmarking through the tour of main industrial cities including Gumi, and he was also very impressed with his first visit to Gumi for being the backbone of Korean economy, ranked 11th in the world.
The congressmen from Spain came to Korea on April 10 and returned to Spain on April 14 after visiting industrial cities, such as Gumi, and Gyeongju.
