Gyeongsangbuk-do is launching 97 packaged tour products featuring a whole host of carefully selected tourist attractions and programs, and it is offering a massive 30% discount on tourism products as part of its Special Spring Promo to travelers visiting the Province.

This promo offer, which runs until May 3, is available on Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Tour-GB website (www.tour-gb.co.kr) and six other major agencies selling tourism products.

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Tourism e-Nuri Project is a product that links major tourist attractions in cities and counties across the Province with unique programs and accommodation options, and it is designed to give travelers a chance to enjoy all that Gyeongsangbuk-do has to offer at a great value for money.

This year, the Provincial Government added plenty of unique places to stay to its long list of staycation products. The Province is also hoping to attract more tourists from the MZ generation with products featuring View Cafes and collaborative products where visitors can enjoy products across two adjacent cities or counties.

Moreover, Gyeongsangbuk-do has launched additional marine and waterfront programs that include Cart Land, railroad bicycle tracks, the little train, four-season sledding rink for family travelers with children, yachts, windsurfing, and scuba diving. There are also programs that let people travel with the pet animals, and some that invite people to escape rooms made based on themes adopted from popular web-toons.

This year’s package tour products were carefully chosen to make sure travelers could enjoy some of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s hidden gems in different cities and counties. Officials visited tourist attractions themselves and took on recommendations from tourism departments at city and county governments. Also, all products are expected to be much easier to use this year with integrated mobile tickets.

What makes this year’s products particularly interesting is that that they look and feel unique across different regions. The northern region, which has a strong Confucian culture and beautiful forests, offers world cultural heritage tours to the Hahoe Village, Dosan Seowon Confucian Academy, Bongjeongsa Temple, Buseoksa Temple, and Sosu Seowon Confucian Academy, as well as products to help visitors rest and recuperate at the Yeongju National Center for Forest Therapy, the Silla Arboretum in Yecheon, and the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum in Bonghwa.

In the southern region, packages to historical sites such as the Donggung Palace, Wolji Pond (Anapji Pond), Daereungwon, and Poseokjeong Pavilion in Gyeongju, which is home to the thousand-year kingdom of ancient Silla, as well as oriental medicine tourism products in Gyeongsan, the Bohyeonsan Starlight Tour in Yeongcheon, and trips to a View Cafe in Cheongdo largely known as the city of cafes.

Along the east coast, products have more marine and seaside elements to them. Waterfront activity programs such as Yacht Day, Surfholic, and Jack Surf in Pohang, cruise travel products, and products with accommodation options offering magnificent views of the East Sea are expected to be a hit among travelers this year.

In particular, Gyeongsangbuk-do has an Ulleungdo tour package product, and it says it plans to add another product linked to the Ulleung Cruise.

Finally, the western region of Gimcheon, Sangju, and Mungyeong has plenty of programs and products for the more dynamic and active travelers or families with young children.

Gimcheon Cart Land, Sangju Sky Bike, Mungyeong Railroad Bike, the Little Train, Eco World, Chilgok Sledding Range, and the Sangju Horse Ranch, along with aqua-leisure programs at Nakdanbo and Sangjubo, the Mungyeong Shooting Range, Omi Nara, Chilgok Sheep Ranch, and special accommodations, a wildflower botanical garden, and a View Cafe in Seongju are all perfect for MZ generation travelers and couples looking for a unique experience.

This year, the list of available tourism products in Gyeongsangbuk-do also has collaborative programs across two adjacent cities or counties. Examples include a UNESCO World Heritage product that links Andong and Yeongju, and a pet-friendly product to Uiseong Pet World and the Mr. Meong Cafe in Andong.

Meanwhile, Gyeongsangbuk-do is actively trying to revitalize its local economy by attracting tourists very much in line with strategies to stimulate domestic demand recently announced by the Korean government (March 29).

The Province announced its vision to attract 100 million domestic tourists and 3 million foreign tourists by 2030, and is preparing new and effective strategies accordingly.

It is promoting various policies - such as developing tourism products in connection with local festivals, providing discounts and incentives to attract domestic and foreign tourists, planning discounts for accommodation throughout the Travel Month in 2023, and developing bus tours around Gyeongsangbuk-do - and is working with Daegu to bring in wellness and medical tourists to the Province.

The Director of Gyeongsangbuk-dos Culture, Tourism and Sports said, Gyeongsangbuk-do is rich in attractive tourism resources across the entire Province. In particular, special package tour products launched this year are uniquely prepared based on actual demand from tourists. He added, We are planning various events and promotional programs for travelers visiting Gyeongsangbuk-do. I hope everyone can come and enjoy everything our wonderful Province has to offer.
