On Monday, April 7, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province held a launch ceremony for the “Service Industry Investment Promotion Council” at the GLAD Yeouido Hotel in Seoul. The event was organized to boost the province’s service industry and attract investment.
The council comprises 21 members, including representatives and experts from various service industry sectors such as hotels, resorts, and data centers. Its goal is to foster promising service industries in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region and revitalize investment attractions.
The meeting proceeded in the following order: presentation of appointment letters to council members, introduction of the council’s operational plans, overview of Gyeongsangbuk-do’s investment environment in the service industry, investment proposals for hotels and resorts by cities and counties, and a discussion on strategies to promote investment attraction. The meeting served as a significant plat for concretizing the vision and development direction of the Gyeongsangbuk-do’s service industry.
The council plans to identify promising companies in various sectors, such as hotels, resorts, data centers, and logistics, leveraging the region’s geographic and industrial strengths. Through customized support that reflects local conditions and corporate needs, the council also aims to promote tangible investment attraction results.
The council will operate through two to three plenary meetings annually, along with ad-hoc small-scale meetings. The plenary meetings will on key issues such as exploring investment strategies for various service sectors, reviewing investment site proposals submitted by cities and counties, and uating expert consultations. Meanwhile, the small-scale meetings will provide in-depth discussions and on-site consultations on issues requiring specialized expertise.
Meanwhile, the launch and operation of the council are expected to generate synergy with the construction of the new airport in Gyeongsangbuk-do. In particular, the province plans to establish an airport economic zone by promoting large-scale development projects such as advanced industrial complexes, residential areas, and life infrastructure aro the new airport. These initiatives aim to foster the growth of various service sectors such as hotels, resorts, and logistics. Furthermore, by expanding the transportation network connected to the new airport and improving accessibility, the province expects to attract domestic and international investors, thereby maximizing economic impact across the entire region.
Shin Seung-hoon, Team Leader of the ision of Investment Promotion of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, “The Service Industry Investment Promotion Council will serve as a key catalyst for discovering new growth engines that will lead Gyeongsangbuk-do’s future and advancing the regional service industry.” He added, “The council will do its utmost to revitalize the local economy and improve the quality of life for residents through systematic and effective investment promotion efforts.”
