Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gumi-si signed memorandums of erstanding (MOUs) worth KRW 90 billion with three resident companies at Gumi National Industrial Complex. The signing ceremony was held on March 4 (Thursday) at the Situation Room of Gumi City Hall with Gyeongsangbuk-do Vice Governor for Economic Planning Ha Dae-seong, Gumi-si Mayor Jang Se-yeong, the representatives of the three companies, and other local institution heads.

Green Package Solution (CEO Ahn Seong-hun), one of the companies that signed the MOU, specializes in processing plant materials and manufacturing new environment-friendly material packages to replace plastic and styrofoam. The company develops eco-friendly packages used in electric/electronic parts, cosmetics, food, and medicine and supplies them to Samsung Electronics, Amorepacific, and other companies.

The company relocated its headquarters from Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, to the First Gumi National Industrial Complex in April 2020. Starting with a KRW 5.2 billion investment this year, the company plans to invest KRW 55 billion by 2024, set to trans the company into one of the leading environment-friendly package manufacturers in Korea.

Se’A Mechanics (CEO Cho Chang-hyeon) is an auto parts manufacturer specializing in environment-friendly parts used in electric cars, hydrogen cars, emergency signal systems (ESS), and die-cast parts used in combustion engines.

The company is also rapidly growing as a secondary cell parts manufacturer, expected to lead to its growth both in scale and quality. It plans to invest KRW 25 billion in auto parts manufacturing to meet the rising demand.

AJU MCM (CEO Jung Won-chang) specializes in manufacturing fireproof doors and building interior/exterior materials. Foed as MCM Tech in 2005 as the first venture company in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, the company adopted its current name in 2016. This solid company supplies materials to apartment construction sites of LH, Hyai E&C, POSCO E&C, and other large constructors in Korea.

In addition, it plans to respond to the growing volume of supply contracts by investing KRW 10 billion to increase its automated door  manufacturing lines by 2022, with possible additional investments worth KRW 10 billion by 2023, depending on the market status.

Vice Governor Ha Dae-seong said, “We welcome the three companies’ decision to invest in the local industry despite the stagnant economy. We will boost our efforts to communicate with companies in the field to continuously manage the investors, address difficulties faced by businesses, and come up with various measures to support their investments in the future.”

Mayor Jang Se-yong also commented, “We thank the representatives of Green Package Solution, Se’A Mechanics, and AJU MCM for their decision to invest despite the challenges in the business environment brought about by COVID-19, and we will do our best to support the investors and eliminate obstacles to their investments.”
