◦ On April 1 (Thursday), Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gumi-si signed a memorandum of erstanding (MOU) with LM Digital, a laser processing company that produces ed circuit boards (PCBs), and DFS, a secondary battery manufacturing equipment producer. The signing ceremony was held at the Situation Room in the Gumi City Hall.
◦ The ceremony was attended by LM Digital CEO Yoo Jae-uk, DFS CEO Lee Dong-ju, Vice-Governor for Economic Planning Ha Dae-sung, Gumi Mayor Jang Se-yong, and Gumi City Council Speaker Kim Jae-sang.
◦ LM Digital will invest KRW 50 billion between 2021 and 2023 to build an additional laser drill hole processing factory for PCBs on a 6,600 m2 area, the company said. Through the investment, the company plans to create 30 new jobs.
◦ With this investment, LM Digital will secure world-class quality and price competitiveness by building cutting-edge facilities and an efficient processing system. The company plans to reach KRW 70 billion in revenue by 2024.
◦ CEO Yoo Jae-uk said, “We will build on the MOU with Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gumi-si to become the best in the industry through continuous technology development and investments, fully committing ourselves to contributing to the local economy.”
◦ DFS specializes in producing secondary battery manufacturing equipment and OLED display logistics automation equipment. Since its foation as RNC in 2011, the company was incorporated in 2018, followed by the foation of a subsidiary research center and the acquisition of a certification of excellent technology uation company. Starting in 2020, the company leveraged its technical expertise in the secondary battery manufacturing equipment sector to ersify customers and increase its revenue, thereby revitalizing the local economy and contributing to job generation.
◦ Moving forward, DFS plans to invest KRW 10 billion (KRW 7 billion in 2021 and KRW 3 billion in 2022) to build a new factory and other facilities on a 9,112 m2 area (floor area: 6,000 m2) at Gumi 5th Industrial Complex. The factory and facilities will be used for core secondary battery manufacturing processes, including tap-welding, pouch manufacturing, and the creation of prismatic battery manufacturing equipment.
◦ Vice-Governor Ha Dae-sung commented, “We will help the two companies secure new accounts inside and outside Korea and accompany them in their journey of growth into global enterprises by addressing barriers to further investments.”
