History
Jinhan is one of the three Hans who lived before Christ, and settled in Gyeongsangbuk-do. This was the base of the Silla Kingdom when its brilliant culture. The one-thousand-year kingdom flourished and unified the three prior kingdoms.

Our region was named Gyeongsang-do in 1314 (the first year of King Chungsuk's reign in the Goryeo Dynasty). When the area was reorganized into 13 provinces in 1896 (the 33rd year of King Gojong's reign in the Joseon Dynasty), our region was renamed Gyeongsangbuk-do. The present administrative districts were organized with the reorganization of Bu, Gun and Myeon in 1914.
- 1314 The region was named "Gyeongsang-do" for the first time.
- August 1896 The name Gyeongsangbuk-do was designated for the Province according to the 13-province system.
- March 1914 The Bu·Gun·Myeon system was organized (1 Bu, 22 Guns, 1 Do)
- August 1949 Daegu, Pohang, and Gimcheon were promoted to the status of cities. Ulleung-do was renamed Ulleung-gun. It has 3 cities and 23 guns.
- January 1963 Uljin-gun merged from Gangwon-do.
- April 1966 Uljin-gun merged from Gangwon-do.
- June 1981 Daegu was promoted to the status of a city directly controlled by the government and separated from Gyeongsangbuk-do.
- January 1989 Gyeongsan-eup was promoted to the status of a city. 10 cities and 24 guns
- January 1995 10 cities and 13 guns were created through the integration of cities and guns
- March 1995 Dalseong-gun merged into Daegu Metropolitan City
- July 1995 Marked the launch of the 1st self-governing administration elected by popular vote
(Governor Lee Eui-Geun) and the beginning of the 5th Provincial Council.
- July 1998 Was the beginning of the 2nd self-governing administration elected by popular vote
(Governor Lee Eui-Geun) and the opening of the 6th Provincial Council.
- July 2002 Launched the 3rd self-governing administration elected by popular vote (Governor Lee Eui-Geun) and the opening of the 7th Provincial Council.
- July 2006 Launched the 3rd self-governing administration elected by popular vote (Governor Kim Kwan Yong) and the opening of the 8th Provincial Council.
- July 2010 Launched the 3rd self-governing administration elected by popular vote (Governor Kim Kwan Yong) and the opening of the 9th Provincial Council.
